National issues with a regional focus . . . New York-based Blog Talk Radio comes to Buckingham
National issues with a regional focus . . . it’s Buckingham This Week!
As the host of one of Blog Talk Radio’s most popular shows, I have interviewed persons of note from the world of politics, business and entertainment.
Reaching an audience of more than 2 million people each month worldwide, both the PI Window and 49th Parallel Forum with American co-host Jim Bouchard, tackle some of the most controversial and thought-provoking topics of the day.
If there is one thing that I have learned in the more than 300 episodes I have had the privilege of hosting, it is that news, real news and human interest stories can and do happen anywhere at any time!
With Buckingham This Week, I will touch on those stories that impact this community of 12,000 (and growing), that rests just outside of the nation’s capital Ottawa.
Besides commentary and guests, the show’s format will also include a call-in and chat room capability so that your opinions can be shared and heard both here at home and around the globe.
This I believe is an important and significant first step in filling the local radio and television voids that have, as I had indicated in my December 20th, 2009 article Local Television: A Question of Relevance in a Changing World, increased due to the global focus of today’s news and increasing media syndication. Regional interests it would seem have given way to a broad nationalized assimilation model, in which the content doesn’t always connect with the communities the mediums are intending to serve.
Buckingham This Week, which will air every Friday at 10:00 PM EST on the PI Window Channel addresses this audience disconnect.
Of course, it is not too far of a stretch to see that the PI Social Media Network which currently publishes 13 blog, and airs 2 radio shows and a new Internet TV channel (The PI Inquisitive Eye), will likely expand this regionalized broadcast model to include other communities throughout Canada and the United States.
By offering original content that resonates within a local community, yet presents something of relevance to our national and international listeners – a kind of reverse syndication if you will, the landscape of broadcast journalism will and is forever changing.
Buckingham This Week Premier Episode
In the first Buckingham This Week segment that will air live on Friday, September 2nd at 10:00 PM EST, Jon will talk about safety in our schools and the recent incident in Buckingham where a young man walked into an elementary school armed with a gun, asking to speak to a classroom of students.
Joining Jon will be criminal profiler Pat Brown (from Nancy Grace, Dr. Drew), as well as former Police Chief and television commentator (Fox News) Dr. Richard Weinblatt.
What happened, why did it happen and most importantly, what needs to be done to prevent it from happening again.
Our call-in number is 347-326-9234, so be ready to tell us what you think!
